The Pattern

Why I built Root to Grow

PowerVox evolved from Serenwood - a commercial consultancy I have run for fifteen years inside boardrooms, executive teams and complex transformation programmes. The work has been in environments where the wrong word costs a deal, a mandate, a contract. Law. Political environments. Negotiation. Restructure. The rooms where communication is not a soft skill - it is the operating condition.

Root to Grow is the programme I built because the women in those rooms kept asking me the same thing: "How do I do what you do - under that pressure, in that room, without losing myself?"

It is not a confidence course. It is not voice coaching in the theatrical sense. It is the structured, practised work of saying the real thing β€” under pressure, under scrutiny, under consequence - and being heard exactly as you intended.

I run every cohort myself. You work with me in real time alongside selected peers: it's hands-on, practical and transformative. If you're in the room, you're in the room with me.

The Shift

Root to Grow takes you from self-protective communication to intentional, high-impact voice under consequence. Over six weeks, in a small cohort of senior women, you'll do the work that most leadership programmes skip entirely: learning to say the real thing, in the room that matters, when the stakes are high.

This isn't about being louder. It's about being clearer. It's about knowing what you think, saying it without apology, and holding your position when the room pushes back.

The Journey

Six weeks. Five distinct shifts.

Root to Grow follows the PowerVox Voice Ladderβ„’ β€” moving you from Control through Clarity to Influence. Each week builds on the last. Nothing is theoretical. Everything is practised.

Week 1

Seeing It Clearly

You'll analyse your own communication using The Black Egg β€” our AI-driven voice analysis tool β€” and see, for the first time, the gap between what you intend and what actually lands. Awareness before action.

Week 2

Understanding the Mechanics

Why do you soften under pressure? Why does your voice change depending on who's in the room? This phase unpacks the patterns, the triggers, and the environments that shape how you show up.

Weeks 3–4

Practising in Safety

In a safe, facilitated cohort environment, you practise saying the things you've been holding back. Power Room simulations put you in high-stakes scenarios β€” stakeholder pushback, board-level challenge, difficult upward conversations β€” so you build the muscle before the real moment arrives.

Week 5

Applying in Reality

Theory meets the real world. You prepare for a specific, real conversation using the PowerVox preparation framework β€” then you go and have it. Your cohort holds you accountable.

Week 6

Integration

You re-analyse your original message from Week 1 and see the distance you've travelled. You build a personal voice compass β€” your principles for communicating under consequence β€” and leave with a practice that lasts.

Live cohort sessions
90 minutes, weekly, facilitated by PowerVox founder Rachel Flower. Teaching, live coaching, group practice, and real-time feedback. This is where the deepest shifts happen.
The Black Egg voice analysis
Each week, you'll use The Black Egg to analyse real messages and communications. Watch the gap between what you intend and what lands β€” then close it, iteratively, in real time.
Guided reflection
A weekly written prompt that helps you process what you're discovering. Not homework. A conversation with yourself about what's changing.
Practice challenges
Real-world application, every week. Notice a pattern. Write both versions. Have the conversation you've been avoiding. This is where the learning becomes lived.
Power Room simulations
Facilitated group scenarios that put you in high-consequence moments β€” stakeholder pushback, board presentations, difficult peer conversations. Practise holding your ground in a room designed for you to grow.

It doesn't have to. After the programme, graduates are invited into an ongoing community where the work continues β€” where you keep practising, keep sharpening, and keep growing alongside women who speak from the same place of truth.
