Brilliant leaders ‐ sharp, strategic, deeply capable ‐ walking out of rooms where they hadn't said the thing that needed to be said. Not because they didn't know. Because they'd learned, through experience, that speaking up carries a cost.
The system rewards performance. Not insight.
Our team has spent decades in those rooms. As commercial lawyers, barristers, mediators, governance experts, C-suite advisors, and negotiators. Courtrooms, boardrooms, mediation tables ‐ environments where what you say, and how you say it, changes the outcome.
And the pattern was always the same: the people with the clearest thinking were rarely the loudest voices. The system wasn't rewarding insight. It was rewarding performance.
Most leadership consultancies come from a coaching or HR background. We don't.
Our core team of ten consultants ‐ supported by a wider associate network of around a hundred specialists ‐ bring backgrounds as lawyers, barristers, accountants, governance specialists, negotiators, mediators, and C-suite advisors. Between us, we've negotiated contracts, challenged executives, chaired boardroom meetings, mediated disputes, argued difficult cases, and managed sensitive ethical and regulatory cases. Our PowerVox brand evolved from our history as a niche commercial and legal consultancy - since 2009 we've worked with hundreds of clients on complex deals, change programmes and transformation projects.
We work across private and public sector, with SMEs and large corporates. We've worked across many sectors including health, defence, retail, finance, education, maritime, with a particular bias towards technology transformation. Every programme is bespoke, tailored to your strategic goals, because we know that no two leadership teams face the same dynamics.
Rachel Flower
I'm a commercial lawyer by training, with decades of experience in negotiation, advocacy, deal-shaping, and mediation. Throughout that time, I honed the ability to craft and communicate powerful arguments, mediate complex disputes, present persuasive business cases, and lead with influence.
But I didn't come to this work through leadership theory alone. I came to it through practice ‐ and through life.
When my daughter was diagnosed with childhood leukaemia, I learned what it means to find your voice when everything is at stake ‐ not in a boardroom, but in a hospital room. To advocate clearly when the noise is overwhelming and the consequences are real. That experience sharpened everything I believe about what voice actually is: not confidence, not performance, but the ability to speak with clarity and conviction when it matters most.
I've always been fascinated by the power of the human voice, and I'm passionate about theatre, music, comedy, and connecting people through shared experiences. At PowerVox, I get to combine legal expertise with artistic intuition to help leaders communicate with authority, impact, and heart.
