Growth Needs Space
For years, leadership development has operated on an industrial model.
Input.
Output.
Input.
Output.
Course.
Certificate.
Framework.
Competency.
Measurement.
But human development looks much more like gardening than manufacturing.
Growth requires the right conditions:
sunlight
nourishment
protection
reflection
recovery
time
The seed is not stupid because it isn't flowering.
It may simply need different conditions.
A greenhouse is where those conditions are made.
The Greenhouse was never created because women needed more information.
Most of the women who arrive already know more than enough.
They are experienced.
Capable.
Thoughtful.
Accomplished.
What they lack is not knowledge.
It is space.
Space to think.
Space to hear themselves.
Space to question assumptions.
Space to notice what they already know.
Space to connect ideas that have never previously had time to meet.
A greenhouse does not force growth.
It creates conditions.
The warmth.
The light.
The shelter.
The time.
And then, remarkably, growth begins to happen by itself.

Perhaps leadership development has been asking the wrong question.
Not:
"What should we teach people next?"
But:
"What conditions would allow them to hear their own wisdom again?"
The Greenhouse. Where strong voices keep growing.
