PowerVox · Growing stronger voices

22Ways to Use Your Voice

Have the thought. Say the thing. Make it land.

A practical, live training for women who have plenty to contribute – and are tired of leaving the best of it unsaid.

You know the meeting after the meeting? The one in your head, where you finally say exactly what you meant?

Let’s get some of that brilliance into the actual meeting.

Join Rachel Flower for a 90-minute PowerVox workshop. Try six voice experiments live, then take away all 22 to use in the conversations that matter to you.

You don’t run out of intelligence. But sometimes you run out of access to it.

You can explain something perfectly to a colleague over coffee. Put the same thought in front of a senior client, a sceptical room or someone who keeps interrupting, and suddenly it comes out wearing six disclaimers.

Perhaps you recognise this:

  • You explain the background, the background to the background and your entire reasoning. Your point is in there somewhere.
  • You soften a clear recommendation until it sounds like a passing thought.
  • You stay quiet while you find the perfect words. Someone else finds some perfectly adequate words and gets there first.
  • You say yes while an extremely articulate no is happening inside your head.
  • You make a useful contribution, then spend the journey home conducting an inquiry into your tone.

You may be confident in plenty of situations. That doesn’t mean every room gets the best of you.

And “just be more confident” is remarkably unhelpful advice when you already have a meeting in ten minutes.

22 Ways

Let’s give you something you can actually try.

22 Ways is a guided introduction to using your voice with more choice, clarity and intention.

You’ll take an ordinary communication moment, change one thing, and notice what happens. The opening sentence. The pause. The amount of explanation. The question you ask. The way you respond when challenged.

Keep what helps. Adapt what doesn’t. Try again.

No personality transplant required. Yours has already done quite a lot of work getting you here.

Why experiments? Because advice can sound sensible and still be useless on Tuesday.

“Be concise.”“Own the room.”“Show more presence.”

Fine. How?

An experiment makes the advice concrete. Say the same recommendation two ways. Ask a listener what they understood. Notice where your intended meaning survived – and where it went missing.

You’re gathering information about your own voice, rather than trying to copy somebody else’s version of authority.

Voice Intelligence · VQ

This is Voice Intelligence in practice.

At PowerVox, we use Voice Intelligence – VQ – to describe the capability to connect what you think and feel with how you express it, so other people can understand and act on what you mean.

The experiments introduce PowerVox’s six dimensions:

Signal

What am I noticing, thinking or feeling that needs my attention?

Clarity

What is the point I want someone to understand?

Authenticity

Does what I’m saying reflect what I actually mean?

Conviction

Can I stand behind my contribution without pretending certainty I don’t have?

Presence

Can I stay engaged with myself, the other person and the conversation?

Impact

What did they actually hear – and what happens next?

These are connected dimensions, not six steps to perform in order. This workshop gives you a practical introduction, not a formal VQ assessment or score.

And the room matters. Hierarchy, bias, relationships and the consequences of speaking can all affect what it costs to use your voice. You can develop your capability without accepting responsibility for everybody else’s behaviour.

Inside the workshop

A taste of what you’ll try

01

The point before the preamble

Give your recommendation first, then the explanation. Ask your listener what they understood you wanted. What changes when the point doesn’t have to be excavated?

02

Let the sentence stand

Make a clear statement and pause, instead of immediately qualifying it. Notice the urge to fill the silence. Decide whether the extra words add meaning or simply relieve discomfort.

03

A no without a novel

Practise a boundary that is clear and considerate. Add the context the other person needs, without turning your availability into a case for the defence.

04

What did you hear?

Ask someone to reflect back your message. Compare what you intended with what they received, then change one element and try again.

You’ll practise six experiments during the workshop; all 22 will be in your field guide for continued use.

What you’ll receive

A 90-minute live online workshop with Rachel

A small group of up to 12 women, with explanation, demonstrations, guided practice and time for questions. You’ll work with everyday professional situations, including meetings, recommendations, disagreement and boundaries.

The downloadable 22 Ways field guide

All 22 experiments, each with a situation to try it in, simple instructions and reflection prompts. Delivered by the workshop date and yours to keep. This is a practical guide, not 22 video lessons waiting to become a guilty tab in your browser.

Your personal three-experiment plan

Choose the three experiments most relevant to you, identify a conversation in which to use them and decide what you’ll look for afterwards. Your first step can be small and low stakes.

A seven-day reflection sheet

Capture what you tried, what happened and what you want to repeat or change. It is for your own use; there is no homework submission or daily group commitment.

What happens in the room?

Bring one situation where you would like more choice in how you communicate. It might be speaking earlier in meetings, making a recommendation, challenging a decision or saying what you need.

We’ll introduce the Voice Intelligence lens, try six experiments through guided individual and paired practice, and compare what we notice. You’ll finish by choosing your next three experiments.

You can use a fictional scenario, pass on an exercise or observe before joining in. You won’t need to share confidential work details or tell strangers your life story.

The workshop will not be recorded, so please choose a date you can attend live.

By the end, you’ll have something more useful than “I should speak up more”.

You’ll leave with:

  • A clearer picture of one pattern that gets between your thinking and your expression.
  • First-hand experience of changing how a message is delivered and checking how it lands.
  • Three specific experiments selected for your own circumstances.
  • A plan for using the first one in a real conversation within seven days.

One workshop cannot guarantee a promotion, remove workplace bias or make every difficult conversation easy. It can give you a practical place to start – and ways to see what changes when you do.

Is this for you?

This is designed for women carrying responsibility: professionals, managers, founders, consultants and women stepping into bigger roles or more consequential conversations.

You don’t need “leader” in your job title. You do need something you want to contribute, ask for, challenge or make clearer.

You’ll get most from it if you are curious enough to try things, willing to notice your habits and ready to use what you learn outside the session.

If you’re looking for vocal rehabilitation, accent coaching, a presentation rehearsal or individual coaching on a complex dispute, this group workshop isn’t designed for that.

Meet Rachel Flower

I’m Rachel, founder of PowerVox: a commercial lawyer with more than 25 years’ experience, a business owner and an executive coach.

My work has taken me through negotiations, boardrooms and leadership conversations where what gets said – and what doesn’t – has consequences.

I care about what happens to good thinking on its way into those rooms. About women having their judgement heard, their contribution understood and their boundaries taken seriously.

I also believe useful work can involve laughter. Particularly when we catch ourselves doing something impressively unhelpful for the seventeenth time.

PowerVox exists to help you grow a stronger voice: one you can use with clarity, confidence and integrity, in a way that still feels like you.

A few sensible questions

Do I have to be confident already?

No. You need curiosity and a willingness to practise at a level that feels manageable. Feeling nervous doesn’t disqualify you.

Is this public-speaking training?

The focus is everyday professional conversations: making a point, offering a recommendation, disagreeing, asking and setting boundaries. Some ideas may help with presentations too, but you won’t be delivering a speech to the group.

Will I be put on the spot?

You’ll be invited to take part in guided practice, including paired exercises. You can pass or observe. Participation helps you test the ideas, but you choose what you share.

What if my workplace is the problem?

That possibility belongs in the conversation. We’ll consider what is within your influence and where the conditions call for a different strategy. Speaking more is not automatically the right answer.

What if I can’t attend?

There is no recording. Please check your chosen date and the linked booking and cancellation terms before booking. Contact [email protected] if you need help with an existing booking.

After 22 Ways

When you want to go further

22 Ways stands on its own; no further purchase is required. You can keep using the experiments on your own.

If you want to explore your patterns more deeply, the VQ Assessment and VQ Programme are the next step: structured development of your Voice Intelligence over time. For ongoing practice and connection with other women, there’s The Greenhouse.

Your next conversation deserves more than the edited highlights of what you think.

Bring the point you keep circling. The recommendation you keep softening. The boundary that somehow turns into another yes.

Let’s give you more ways to say what you mean – and find the ones you can actually use.
